ALGOMED - Digital Algometer

Computerized pressure algometer

Computerized Pressure Pain Algometer

AlgoMed is the first software-based digital algometer to offer real-time visual & auditory feedback to control & monitor applied pressure rates to measure pressure pain threshold.

Algometers are designed to quantify and document levels of tenderness via pressure pain threshold measurement and pain sensitivity via pressure pain tolerance measurement. Pressure algometry is a reliable measure of pain in muscles, fascia, joints, tendons, ligaments and the periosteum.

The challenge in performing pressure algometry tests is to apply continuously ascending pressure at a constant rate on the patient's selected body site without having the possibility to monitor it in real time.

Medoc’s  AlgoMed provides clinical researchers with a new tool for protocols requiring precise pressure pain data. In clinical practice, the AlgoMed quantifies pressure response in the evaluation of various pain conditions (such as Myofascial Pain Syndrome & Fibromyalgia). AlgoMed also offers a convenient method for monitoring treatment effectiveness.

AlgoMed, the digital algometer, enables the user to perform various pressure test paradigms which can be utilized for a wide range of pressure pain measures, such as pressure pain threshold, pressure pain tolerance, Temporal Summation (TS) and CPM (Conditioned Pain Modulation) also referred to as DNIC (Diffuse Noxious Inhibitory Control).

Thanks to Medoc’s proprietary software, physicians are able to monitor the test while receiving real-time visual and auditory feedback on their PC. AlgoMed's ergonomic handle allows the operator to easily grip the Algometer and apply embedded pressure. The software allows easy management of patients, programs and test results. The AlgoMed software offers body site selection, and additional body sites can be personalized in the software. Results can be displayed in customizable color reports or exported to Excel for further analysis.

Your patient can stop the test at any time by clicking the Patient Response Unit. Alternatively, the operator can stop the test by simply removing the AlgoMed from the patient's selected body site.

The calibration verification weight can be an optional accessory to the AlgoMed package, enabling periodical calibration verification, assuring the accuracy of test results.
